Last night EA released a deep dive trailer for Immortals of Aveum. This allowed a deeper insight into the story as well as the three forms of magic. We will give you all the important details in the summary.

The Story

In the world of Aveum, there are five realms that have been fighting each other for thousands of years in the Eternal War to gain control over magic. Separating these realms is a formless, ever-growing void at the centre known as the Wound.
On one side of the mystery-shrouded Wound lies the realm of Lucium, to whose order the Immortal protagonist Jak belongs. On the other side lies Lucium’s arch-enemy, the wealthy empire Rasharn It is led by the tyrant Sandrakk, whose army causes war all over the world.

After a traumatic event, magic awakens in Jak. However, he is not considered an ordinary Magnus. He is a triarch and thus able to control all three colours of magic. So Jak joins the Immortals to protect Aveum from Rasharn together with the warriors Devyn and Zandara as well as the Grand Magus Kirkan and to end the war once and for all.

The Magic of Aveum.

The gameplay of Immortals of Aveum

In Immortals of Aveum you deal with the three magic colours red, blue and green. To bundle the magic, you use the so-called sigils. For each magic colour there are three variants of the sigils, which differ in type of spell, fire rate, damage, range and fire capacity. Red sigils are suitable for close combat and explosive attacks, while Blue sigils are designed for long-range combat with high range. The Green Sigils are designed for a highly mobile fighting style with their rapid-fire spells.

Add to this the less brutal forms of magic. For example, with transformation spells you can levitate over chasms and warp objects, allowing you to solve puzzles. With Control spells you can slow down enemies like objects with sticking spells, pull them in with a whip or even paralyse them.
Last but not least, there is the Mastery Spell, which charges up over time and is a weapon of last resort. With it, you ignite all three colours of magic at once and cut through your enemy masses with a mighty beam.

Progress

Whether you want to specialise in one magic colour or become a true all-rounder is up to your play style. In the Talent Tree  you will find 25 spells and 80 talents to unlock.
If you are unhappy with your choice, you can redistribute talent points at the forge for some extra cost. There you will also find various items to buy and upgrade. These include SigilsTotemsRings and Armbands, whose individual properties affect your stats.

When Immortals of Aveum is released on August 22 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, you can explore this rich world with its twelve biomes  Also look forward to Comic Con in San Diego, where EA will be releasing another (blog entry) about the characters and their backstories.
