Apex Legends has had a bit of a slip lately, but the most recent season is making some steps to try and improve the standing of the title. Some of the biggest Apex Legends players have their own ideas in mind though. ImperialHal, one of Apex Legends biggest streamers, has an idea right out of Fortnite to give the game a step up, Apex Legends Ranked cash prizes.

One of the bigger issues with the game at the moment has been the Ranked Mode. There were changes over the last few seasons which have messed around with it a lot, but the title’s player numbers and Twitch viewership hasn’t massively improved. ImperialHal has suggested a new feature Respawn could add to get a bit more attention in the game and get players back interested.

Do We Need Apex Ranked Cash Prizes?

Apex Legends Ranked cash prizes would be one way to draw players back into the game. ImperialHal seems to envision this in a similar way to Fortnite. The tournaments in Fortnite are held pretty differently from those in Apex. While the FNCS and ALGS are comparable, Fortnite has more than that. Every week they hold in-game tournaments like cash cups with cash prizes. These provide an incentive for players and give everyone the chance to earn some money for taking part.

On a recent stream, ImperialHal has talked through some ideas that would help Apex recapture some attention One of these is that the game needs more new content for big drops, not just a character and balancing changes. Another has been that Apex should be aping the Fortnite Cash Cup system.

The player said “The game needs to prioritize and understand that their game’s viewership is very reliant on competitive, and if they do cash cups like Fortnite does, it would… thrive.”

The idea to bring in more of these cash prize tournaments would probably get more eyes on Apex. It would dramatically increase the prize money they’d be putting up for the game. If this would be a worthwhile trade-off is hard to say though. These ideas are definitely interesting though, it would be nice to see some further development of Apex Legends esports soon.
