In many sports, we see players at the peak of their powers. Currently, there is one player in India at the height of his powers, Rudra “Spower.” In this article, we will take a look at why Spower is one of the best BGMI players in the country.
Who is Spower and How Good Of A BGMI Player Is He?
Spower’s career started way back in 2020 with 8Bit after which he made a switch to Godlike Esports in 2021. He was a part of the fan-favorite roster until 2022.
Following the return of BGMI in 2023, he began the year by playing for Blind Esports. In just two months, he went on to win six unofficial events of BGMI in India, establishing Blind Esports as one of the top teams in the country. Things took a turn for the worse, though, when Godlike announced Spower’s return to the organization as the fifth player in their line-up. Many thought that with Spower on the team, Godlike would be able to steamroll the opposition with both Jonathan and him on it.
Unfortunately, things didn’t work out that way. In the two months that he was with Godlike, Spower only finished 7th in a tournament. For the likes of Godlike, that wasn’t good enough, so they switched to a classic 4-man line-up, leaving Spower without a team once again in the BGMI India Series.
The Comeback Of The Wonderkid?
During the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series tournament, Gladiator Esports won the event in quite a fashion on the last map. All eyes were on the 16 teams who were taking part in the tournament and Spower was also there at the arena. He was present on all three 3 days watching how the fans reacted to each game as well as how the teams played in the LAN tournament.
There was a burning passion that you could see in his eyes and an itch to be one of the 64 players who were playing at the official event. Following the BGIS event, the news broke out that he was reuniting with his old roster at Blind Esports. Looking back at this decision, it does feel like it was the most beneficial one for his career.
The first tournament he played with Blind Esports was the Indian Korea Invitational in Delhi this year. The event was quite a success for the team as they finished in 4th position and as the second-highest Indian team in the tournament. This run of form continued as Blind Esports went on to win the Skyesports Championship 5.0 and placed second in the Upthrust Esports Diwali Battle 2023.
Time To Reclaim The Throne Spower!
As the end of 2023 was coming close, all eyes were on the next official tournament from Krafton which was the BGMI Pro Series (BMPS), taking place at the EKA Arena, Ahmedabad. Blind Esports started gradually on the first day. With Entity being on top of the table many wondered if Blind could make a climb to the top. Well, Day 2 was all about Blind with the team being as consistent as possible. They won 2 maps on that day and finished the rest in either the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th position.
Finally, Day 3 was all about Blind Esports vs Gladiators Esports. Blind went on to win another map on that day. Blind Esports finished the day on top of the table winning the tournament with 249 points.
Spower proved his dominance in the tournament finishing the event with the greatest number of finishes with 60 total kills. This domination has resulted in Spower also winning the MVP award at the tournament as well. The win at BMPS made this the first win for Spower in an official tournament. A feat achieved by very few in BGMI.
When we spoke to Spower after the win, the happiness in his eyes winning his first official could be seen in full effect. He was there in front of his parents, showing his parents the winning medal and making his mother wear it as well. It was quite an emotional moment for the people who have a part of his journey. The itch to play and win at an official LAN was finally accomplished.
Now, as the team heads to 2024, it has been announced that they are parting ways with Blind Eports. It remains to be seen where Spower and his teammates head to next.
