Reigning champion and Juventus DSYRE player DaniPitbull will be looking to defend its eSerieA title in the new 2024 season. Here’s how his debut match went.
Juventus DSYRE looking to repeat itself in the new championship
DaniPitbull is picking up where he left when he won last year, beginning his journey in Group B of eSerieA. Compared to previous years, major changes have been made to the format: there will be a single round-robin group stage with two halves of 9 minutes each, with the first team of each group advancing to the Final Eight.
The rest of the teams, instead, will go through a single-elimination playoff bracket which will determine the remaining six teams that qualify to the last stage. The Final Eight in April will determine the top four teams that will go to the eChampions League, as well as the top two that will get access to the FC Pro World Championship, which will be held in June to crown the EA FC World Champion.
DaniPitbull: “I wasn’t expecting it”
The last match of Day 1 for Group B saw two of the top players face off, with DaniPitbull going against Obrun, who ended top 4 at last year’s world championship. The two players had a heated match, packed with incredible goals and back-and-forth action. In the end, the match ended in a 3-3 draw, giving both teams a point in the standings. With the single round-robin format, every point matters even more.
In the post-match interview, DaniPitbull was surprised at Obrun’s performance, especially considering the latter lost against Genoa Esports prior to their match. Even his coach Daniele “Dagnolf ” Tealdi was caught off guard, praising the opponent for his goals.
When asked about what he thinks about the competition this year, the player explained it’s getting tougher and tougher, and the new format doesn’t give much room for error. “You are out immediately if you lose, so everything will be more flippy in playoffs. On the other hand, though, this format prepares us for the FC Pro so it has its pros and cons.”
Despite being part of one of the most prestigious clubs in Italy, DaniPitbull doesn’t feel the pressure of winning: “I don’t feel any since I’m doing what I love and I’m proud to wear the Juventus jersey. Fino alla fine, forza Juventus!”
With Day 1 of the eSerieA over, DaniPitbull and Juventus DSYRE will turn their eyes to tomorrow’s match against Genoa eSports at 15:30, for yet another explosive game.
