After an incredible KCX3, French organization Karmine Corp announced their esports arena in Evry, the “Arènes de l’Agora”.
Karmine Corp is the first European team to have their own arena
Karmine Corp plans to set up to 25 events per year in the arena. The “Arènes de l’Agora” in Évry (Essonne) is a venue that can accommodate up to 3,000 people. Thanks to its great fan base and the overall interest in the team, the club will definitely benefit from having its own arena, which should come around the summer of 2024. They will have the chance to host and organize their own matches, and the place can also be used for other types of special events.
“What we want now is to take it to the next level, to be in a model similar to traditional sports and be a resident in an arena to create regular events,” said general manager Arthur Perticoz. “It’s a change in the business model because it means having subscribers like in stadiums, having ticket sales like traditional clubs.”
KCorp signed a multi-year lease with the “Arènes de l’Agora”, which is owned by the Grand Paris Sud metropolitan area. According to its president Michel Bisson, they “want to align with our society, align with our youth,” he said, emphasizing the societal role of esports as a “lever” to reach young people. Needless to say, the entire community is loving and appreciating this partnership.

The economic benefits behind having an Arena
Esports have been struggling to generate revenues in the past few years and with sponsorships and partnerships becoming less effective, organizations have been looking to explore new revenue streams.
KCorp’s idea to have its own venue will definitely give it a big boost in that regard, as it will be able to generate income from ticket sales, getting closer to the traditional sports model.
Currently, however, KCorp has a unique advantage that allows them to explore new opportunities, and that is their fandom and following. Despite only being three years old, the “Corps” have been able to gather thousands and thousands of fans across the entire nation.
KCX3 was the perfect representation of this. Held in Paris at the La Défense Arena, the event had more than 28,000 people, breaking all sorts of attendance records. In comparison, the LEC Season Finals gathered 50% of that with around 14,000 people attending at the Sud de France Arena in Montpellier.
“We estimate that we are the only team, or almost the only team, that can do this. It’s a thunderclap in the industry because it means that an esports team can hold up to 20 or 25 events a year like a football club,” added Arthur Perticoz. “Our model is to say, ‘Since we aspire to become the PSG of esports, we need to have our own Parc des Princes.’”
