It has been a busy week for fighting game esports, we’ve seen quite a few roster moves. Most recently, Rewind is joining Knights. The Pittsburgh org is adding to its Mortal Kombat roster with this latest addition. The player will be stepping in to help bolster the fighting game roster for the org. With bigger Mortal Kombat competitions going on in 2023 and 2024, it’s a perfect time to make an expansion into this game.

Quite a few of the biggest fighting games have seen releases in 2023. This has meant that competitions have more eyes on them, and overall fighting game esports are experiencing a bit of a renaissance right now. Mortal Kombat in particular is driving quite a few moves in rosters. Earlier this week, Knights lost a player to a rival org expanding out into fighting games. However, with Rewind joining the roster they’ve managed to fill that gap quickly.

Rewind Joins Knights to Expand Mortal Kombat Roster

This week saw Knights lose a major player for fighting game esports, 2eZ. That player initially marked their entire entry into Mortal Kombat, coming on board back in 2020. Along with MK, they operate in games like Smash Melee but not a whole lot of fighters. With 2eZ leaving the team, it seemed like Knights might even be dropping out of MK as a whole. However, with this latest signing its clear they’re sticking around in the game.

Rewind has just been announced as joining the org, becoming their new representation in the world of Mortal Kombat. The player has been in the game for quite a while, having previously been part of Coalition, Noble eSports, and more recently UYU. In that time, they’ve had some impressive results in past Mortal Kombat games. In 2022, they came in 2nd at EVO for Mortal Kombat 11. They’ve even won regional events for tournaments like the Pro Kompetition.

Rewind’s past results definitely make them a contender for fighting games. Signing them up to Rewind is going to help make sure the org remains a player in Mortal Kombat. With a newly expanded MK Pro Kompetition signings like this could definitely pay off.
