As India and South Korea celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations, Indian diplomats to South Korea and the Chairman of gaming company KRAFTON, Inc. discussed India’s thriving gaming ecosystem and KRAFTON’s focus on the Indian market.
Recently, Byung Gyu (BG) Chang, Chairman of KRAFTON, Inc., met with Amit Kumar, Ambassador of India to the Republic of Korea, and Nishi Kant Singh, Deputy Chief of Mission to the Republic of Korea, at the company’s Seoul headquarters. Sean Hyunil Sohn, CEO of KRAFTON India, was also present at the meeting. KRAFTON India is the publisher of one of the most popular games in India, BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA (BGMI), along with other popular games like Road To Valor: Empires, Defense Derby, and NEW STATE MOBILE.
Krafton to Host India-Korea Invitational Matches To strengthen India-South Korea relations
The meeting’s discussions revolved around the 50th anniversary of India-Korea diplomatic relations and KRAFTON’s increased investments in India. During the discussions, the Indian Ambassador emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering the entertainment and gaming industry and supporting startup growth—a mission closely aligned with KRAFTON’s ongoing investments in India. To strengthen India-South Korea relations, KRAFTON will host India-Korea Invitational matches, featuring the top gaming teams from both countries playing BGMI matches in India in October 2023.
BG Chang reiterated the significance of the Indian market for KRAFTON, expressing his vision of the company’s growth aligning with India’s progress. He highlighted the importance of collaborations between both nations to enhance India’s gaming ecosystem and introduce new gaming experiences to Indian players. He also mentioned that KRAFTON’s strategy in India remains grounded in the robust growth of the traditional gaming industry, which continues to thrive with double-digit growth.
This meeting signifies yet another positive development in the India-Korea relationship and underscores KRAFTON’s commitment to expanding its presence and operations in India.
