LCO 2024 Split 1 – Introduction

The 2024 League of Legends Circuit Oceania (LCO) Split 1 is the 7th split of Oceania’s professional League of Legends league. Hosted by ESL Australia, it’s the third split without a direct path to MSI and the LoL World Championship. For the second year running, the league will have the chance to fight for access by competing in the PCS playoffs. Below is the list of the teams taking part in this split:

Antic Esports
Dire Wolves
FURY Global
Ground Zero
ION Global Esports
Kanga Esports
MAMMOTH
Team Bliss

The format

The format for the LCO sees eight teams competing in a single round robin group stage, with Bo2 matches. A won series will grant two points, a tie one point, and a loss 0 points. The top 6 teams will advance to playoffs, which will feature a double-elimination bracket, and the top two will represent the LCO in the PCS Playoffs.

The expectations and teams

Despite the LCO losing direct access to international competitions, there are quite a few interesting names in the league. Given the struggles seen in the NACL last year, some of the Oceanic players returned to their domestic league. Names like k1ng, Ry0ma, and Shernfire are probably some of the more familiar names if you have followed the LCS in the past. On top of that, there are some Chinese, Korean, and Hong Kong imports, which spices up the league.

The regular split has already ended and the top 6 teams will kick off playoffs on Feb 26. The top two will be locked in early March to align with the rest of the PCS and LJL while the final will only be played on April 28. Until then, we won’t know who the LCO champion will be.
