LCS 2024 Mid Lane Power Rankings – Who is the best?

A lot of changes to the mid lane player pool for the LCS: here are the power rankings heading into the 2024 season.

5. Dove

Dove is my underrated mid lane pick from the LCS. While it’s hard to quantify how strong he is given the break he took in the LPL last split, I still believe the Korean player is stronger than most people think.

The guy found strong success during the spring split on Invictus Gaming and he has always been a decent mid-pack player in the LCK. His champion pool is quite big, giving more options to Dignitas. The question is how he will behave in a new environment: he might need more time to settle in.

4. Insanity

The 2023 season saw the LCS giving more stage time to domestic talents and that decision seems to work out: Insanity has shown some promising stuff in the summer split, which lays a good foundation for the 2024 season.

That being said, he’s still a diamond in the rough and he’ll probably need more time to reach his maximum potential. Shopify Rebellion has a decent lineup this year, which should help increase Insanity’s chances of showing up. It will be up to him to seize those opportunities.

3. Jensen

Jensen comes from a disappointing year on Dignitas but I’m still convinced that he’s still a solid player in the mid lane pool. He won’t be the crème de la crème anymore, but he compensates for that with consistency and most importantly, experience. Together with his top and jungle, FlyQuest has a great trio to carry the team to victory while they discover their young bot lane’s true potential.

2. Palafox

Now that we got to witness Palafox’s level of play in 2023, I’m expecting even more stuff in the new season. He has shown increasing consistency throughout the summer split, making fewer and fewer mistakes. Most importantly, he was leading NRG in the damage department alongside FBI and this year shouldn’t be any different.

What I think Palafox needs to work on the most is his champion pool: we know he’s great on his picks but if the meta were to shift abruptly, he would be among the most affected.

1. jojopyun

If you actively follow the LCS, you wouldn’t be surprised to see jojopyun at the top of this list. The Canadian mid laner has been heads and shoulders above everyone else. And now that he joined Cloud9 for the new season to replace the departing EMEN3S, there is little to no competition left.

With that in mind, the most important thing about jojopyun in 2024 is understanding what his role will be like within the Cloud9 roster. Will he be a carry-style-oriented player or will he be more of an enabler for his bot lane: which one will work out better? Even though it won’t make much of a difference in the LCS, this will also determine C9’s level of play at the international stages.
