LEC 2023 Summer Groups – Teams and Schedule

Below are the eight teams that have qualified for the Spring Playoffs (ordered by seeding):

#1 – G2 Esports
#2 – Fnatic
#3 – XL Esports
#4 – Team Heretics
#5 – Team BDS
#6 – SK Gaming
#7 – MAD Lions
#8 – KOI

The LEC 2023 Summer Regular split has been a special one. We were able to witness the rebirth of Fnatic, XL Esports, and Team Heretics who surprisingly all made it to the top four, alongside G2 Esports. All these teams showed great promising performances and rightfully earned their place into Groups stage.

With two of the bottom teams from the previous split going into Groups, there are two other squads who were bound to miss out on the last part of the season. Astralis and Team Vitality have already ended their Summer Split, with the former ending their LEC season early. Despite some decent performances here and there, Astralis do not have enough championship points for the LEC Season Finals.

Team Vitality have a small chance of qualifying for the Season Finals

Vitality, on the other hand, still have a slim chance to qualify, but even if they were able to make it, the team doesn’t seem to be anywhere ready to fight for the title. Jungler Bo was benched prior to the last week of the regular split and despite having rookie jungler Daglas coming up from the academy team, Vitality failed to win in week 3, ending their split with a 1-8 scoreboard.

While it’s technically possible for them to still qualify for the LEC Season Finals, the odds are extremely slim. With MAD and G2 already locking a spot and Team BDS having scored more championship points, they would need multiple scenarios to align to make it. Most importantly, they would need to have teams like XL, TH, and FNC to not make it into the top 3, with MAD, G2, and Team BDS locking out the top spots. But given how the teams have performed, it’s highly unlikely.

Can MAD repeat Spring again?

Once again, MAD find themselves barely scraping into the top 8. Despite a great start, for MAD it all went downhill quickly starting from week 2. Will they manage in the incredible run again? They don’t necessarily have to, considering they already locked a spot at the Season Finals, but it will definitely help to see a step up in their gameplay.

The rest of the mid-pack has had ups and downs throughout the 3 weeks so it’s really hard to make any prediction. Based on what we’ve seen so far, there are chances that aside from G2 and maybe FNC, all the other teams have the potential to beat each other depending on how they show up on the day.
