It might have taken a bit longer than expected, but Blizzard has finally unveiled the new Overwatch hero! Lifeweaver is going to come to the game for the fourth season of Overwatch.

The new Overwatch hero will be added in alongside the next full season. As already established, they’ll be a support Hero. The character’s design and abilities teased so far look like one of the more interesting additions to the Support role. This is what we know so far and when we get to play Lifeweaver.

The new Overwatch hero is Lifeweaver, the 37th to get added to the game! They’ll be another Support Hero, joining recent addition Kiriko as the second support exclusive to Overwatch 2.

The character is human in design but has a few flairs that make them stand out along with Overwatch’s lively cast. They’re already a hit with the game’s fanbase, with plenty of fan art popping up already! We’ll get more details on Lifeweaver along with the full season reveal. That’s all scheduled for April 11th, so we don’t have long to hold on before we get a full look at the character. In the meantime, things are finally heating up for OW esports, and this new character is going to be a fun addition to the new season.

Lifeweaver Abilities

These are the Lifeweaver abilities that have been shown off so far.

Healing Blossom – Primary fire, a chargeable healing burst.
Thorn Valley – Secondary, a damage attack with a rapid-fire projectile spread
Petal Platform – Creates a platform.
Rejuvenating Dash – Dashes forwards while healing.
Life Grip – Pulls an enemy towards you
Parting Gift – Drops a healing item when you die. It can be used by both enemies and allies.
Tree of Life – Ultimate, plants a tree that heals allies for as long it’s in-play.

Everything Else We Know About the New Overwatch Hero

Before unveiling Lifeweaver themselves, Blizzard released a few teases for the new character.

Specifically, Blizzard said that their new abilities would be interesting, especially in high-level games. That’s exciting but also kind of just basic promotional patter. It would be more surprising if a new hero was promoted as being dull.

In terms of actual mechanics and how they’re going to work, we’re still shrouded in mystery for the new Overwatch hero. We can probably expect them to be a major part of the next Overwatch Battle Pass too.

New Overwatch Hero Release Date

The new Overwatch Hero is scheduled to come with Season 4. We have a good idea of when the new season will start. Previous seasons have run for around 9 weeks. This would put the launch date for early/mid-April 2023, roughly April 11th. Blizzard has now confirmed the new season is coming on April 11th, exactly lining up with past seasons.

We’re getting a full reveal with ability details soon though before the season starts properly. That’s along with more Overwatch news on the new map and everything else coming.
