If you want to quickly catch up on the LLA, here’s what you need to know about the opening split for the 2024 season.
LLA 2024 Opening – Introduction
The LLA 2024 Opening Season is the first split of the sixth year of Latin America’s fully unified professional League of Legends league. The top team from the first split of the year will head to MSI to represent the region. Below is the list of the teams taking part in this split:
All Knights
Estral Esports
INFINITY
Isurus
Leviatan
Movistar R7
Six Karma
Team Aze, which was supposed to be the eighth team, announced its departure from the LLA ahead of the start of the season.
The format
The LLA competes in a double round robin, with Bo3 matches taking place across 7 weeks. The region follows a similar format to the LPL and LCK, with the top six teams qualifying for playoffs. Given that the league is made up of 7 teams, this means that only one will be eliminated.
In playoffs, the top six will compete in a double elimination bracket: the top four in the upper bracket while 5-6th place will be in the losers’ one. All matches will be Bo5 at this stage. The champions will win a total of $30,000 and the spot at MSI.
The expectations and teams
Just like last year, Estral Esports and Movistar R7 continue their fight for the top spot. This time, though, things are turning the other way around, with Estral on top of the standings and R7 trying to follow closely. These two are likely heading into the final to determine the MSI representative.
Behind them, there are three teams in the mid-pack (Isurus, All Knights, and Leviatan) while the bottom two are Six Karma and INFINITY. The chances of making a miracle run from these teams are unlikely as they are still lacking.
The regular split will end on Feb 29, with playoffs beginning on March 5, with the final being held on April 6.
