After revealing LoL Arena would come back later this season, Riot confirmed its return date and shared the upcoming changes for the game mode.
LoL Arena – PBE in November, Live in December
Riot Games announced they will bring back the Rings of Wrath and LoL Arena for more 2v2 battles. Following its great initial success, the devs confirmed it will be back on the live servers in early December, with players already getting the taste of the new changes on the PBE starting from November 8.
The Future of Arena
Arena was the first new mode League released in several years and it has become an instant success, to the point where players have been demanding to bring it back as soon as possible. This version of LoL Arena will have a few additional features compared to the previous edition, as well as other changes to improve the gaming experience for the players, including:
Implementing 8-man queue
Champion Diversity
Stage gameplay
Cameos
Rating Changes
The most notable change and the feature players wanted the most was having the possibility to queue 8 people together within the same lobby, creating their own private match. With the second version of Arena, this will be possible. Additionally, groups of 2, 3, and 4 people can now queue together and choose who is on what team. If you want to know exactly what were the reasons behind all the changes, check out the full explanation here.
The devs have mentioned that this release of Arena will only be live for a limited run before they take it down again to make further adjustments. So with that in mind, LoL Arena is still far away from becoming a permanent game mode like ARAM and Summoners’ Rift. Riot added they will be looking for constructive feedback to further improve the gameplay and create the best version of the game mode.
