The Worlds 2023 song is out and the music video is a banger. Here is everything you need to know about the MV, ranging from the players featured to all the easter eggs, small bits, and details.
Worlds 2023 Song – Protagonists, Easter Eggs, and much more
The entire music video is built around Deft’s journey to his 2022 Worlds title, showcasing all his appearances on the international stages throughout his career.
The entire video can be split into 6 sub-sections, each reliving one of Deft’s key moments.
Deft and Faker in the same high school
Worlds 2013
Worlds 2014
Worlds 2015
Worlds 2020
Worlds 2022
Let’s go over each reference individually and look at the most important bits. If you want to check out the video, listen to the song on YouTube. I will be adding the timestamps when possible.

Deft in High School with Faker
The first scene of the video sees Deft heading to school on a snowy day. Inside the classroom, Deft looks at Faker in class since they were students from the same high school. Shortly after, Deft jumps into Summoner’s Rift as Ezreal, beginning his journey as a pro player by grinding in solo queue. His rival Faker, however, is already seen popping off on Zed, his signature pick from season 3, as he and SKT T1 win the World Championship. You can see the trophy in the background as Faker slays the Baron Nashor.
Content Creator Ashley Kang spotted an interesting easter egg when Deft and Faker were shown at school. In the background, there seems to be a little board hanging that says: “School Motto: The most important thing is the unbreakable heart”. This is one of Deft’s key quotes from last year.
Worlds 2014 – The encounter with Pawn in the semifinals
In the next section, starting from 0:55 in the video, Deft is playing Lucian against Pawn on Jayce. Deft joined Samsung Blue in the 2014 and went to Worlds as the first seed from the Korean league. But despite being the favorites, they were knocked out by their sister team Samsung White, who went on to win the World title that year.
Worlds 2015 – Rekkles on Kennen against EDG Deft
Deft ended up leaving Samsung Blue at the end of the season and went to the LPL To join EDward Gaming. Even though they won MSI that year and were relatively strong, they ended up falling to Fnatic at Worlds. In the clip, we can see Reckless as Kennen against Deft and Meiko (who were Sivir and Thresh), as his shurikens end Deft’s run at Worlds in 2015.
Worlds 2020 – DRX Deft and Keria vs DWG Canyon and Showmaker
Even though Deft participated in Worlds 2016 (with EDG) and in 2018 with KT Rolster, the video skips directly to Worlds 2020. Deft was in his second year with the DRX squad (they rebranded from Kingzone DragonX to DRX) and formed a roster of young talents, including Doran and Keria, two key members who end up becoming opponents later in the video.
Starting from 1:30 in the video, Deft is seen playing Senna with his teammate Doran on Jax. The two are seen fighting against DWG Showmaker on Syndra and jungler Canyon on Graves, the quarterfinal match at Worlds 2020. On that occasion, DWG completely dominated DRX, destroying Deft’s dream of becoming champion once again. In the final clip of that sequence, his support Keria who played Braum ended up tanking Syndra’s ultimate, sacrificing himself to protect his carry.
In the last attempt to fight back, the knockback from the battle ends up throwing Deft into the darkness, as he seems to be sinking and on the verge of disappearing. That’s until he’s pulled back by the rest of the new DRX squad, which crawled his way to Worlds 2022 through the Regional Gauntlet.

Worlds 2022 – DRX, EDG, Gen.G, and T1
From 2:30, this is where everything comes back together for Deft and DRX. In a weird series of events, Deft ends up playing against all his former teammates, starting with Meiko, the 2021 World Champion, who is shown playing Renata. To defeat him, Deft becomes Draven and finishes him off with the axes, pointing at Deft’s ability to reinvent himself and play new picks.
A similar thing happened in the following match when Deft faced his former top laner Doran, who joined Gen.G. The Korean ADC played Varus against Doran, depicted as a giant Renekton. Despite being cornered, Deft kills him with one of his empowered arrows.
In the last part of the song, around 2:49 of the video, Deft comes face to face with his former support T1 Keria, who is shown playing Karma. Deft, who is playing Caitlyn, is about to have the upper hand on Keria, but Faker appears from behind on his Viktor. This clip is hinting at the Game 5 moment from last year’s Worlds, when Faker tried to make a backdoor on DRX after T1 lost the Elder dragon fight.
While everything seems to crumble apart once again, the rest of the DRX squad shows up to save its carry and finish off T1. All players were shown based on the champions they used in the decisive Game 5:
Kingen on Aatrox
Pyosik on Hecarim
Zeka on Azir
Deft on Caitlyn
BeryL on Bard
Zeka sets up Deft to fire the last headshot at T1, winning the championship, and coronating his dream after 10 long years with the 2022 Worlds Trophy. At the end of the video, we can see some of the competitors for this year’s Worlds. If you’re not sure which players were showcased, here’s the full list (based on the order of appearance):
