Fighting for survival with sharp sticks and magic? Lost Isle wants to offer you an unusual open world

At first glance, the formula of the new survival game Lost Isle sounds pretty familiar: You fight your way around an island, collecting resources, crafting better and better equipment and meeting other survivors with whom you can fight or form alliances. However, there is one special element: magic.

Because the game’s open world is characterized by mysterious magical energies – and you naturally want to uncover their secrets in order to use them to your advantage. You’d better hurry, because each server only exists for a limited time. After that, a new world is created procedurally and you start all over again. The trailer gives you a first impression:

What is known about Lost Isle?

Lost Isle offers open worlds that are randomly generated and should therefore always offer variety. Exactly how long they will remain available on the servers is not yet known. In general, the information available so far is limited

The game will be about dead gods and their traces, magical influences and supernatural creatures, but also about classic survival factors. So you don’t run across the islands with a magic wand by default, but instead start by crafting axes and bows. You will mainly discover magic in caves or similar hidden places

You should be able to decide for yourself exactly how you want to play:&nbspDo you prefer to sneak through the shadows as a lone wolf? Or team up with other players to form an exploring party? Perhaps cunningly outwit your comrades and run off with the loot (which our dear GameStar community would certainly never do, right?!). Real mass battles with up to 200 players on one server should also be possible

The combat system is based on stamina, which decreases through attacks, blocking, dodging and so on. If you find the right materials, you can also build firearms or explosive devices. Or you can concentrate on cooking and gain powerful buffs. How much magic you can actually use yourself remains to be seen – but fireballs are already confirmed and that’s probably the main thing.

There is still no exact release date, it should be released sometime in 2024. We will of course keep you up to date if there is early access or as soon as the release date is known.

What do you think of the idea of a survival game with magical influences? Do you enjoy exploring the lore of such games or are the gameplay mechanics of this genre more important to you? Will you be keeping an eye on Lost Isle? We look forward to your personal opinion in the comments.
