MenaRD Gets Double Major Victory After CEO 2023

Street Fighter 6 has been huge for the fighting game series, bringing in a bigger crowd than ever. The game has already become a major part of fighting game esports, with a few Majors already completed and EVO 2023 coming up. Even at this early stage though, a few players are already edging their way out of the pack as the best. MenaRD has just taken another major win and looks like a shoe-in for the title of best Street Fighter 6 player, at least at this early stage.

MenaRD is no stranger to success in Street Fighter. As a dedicate player of this series of fighting games, he’s already taken the biggest title multiple times, winning the Capcom Cup in 2017 and 2023. Coming into Street Fighter 6 he looks set to continue that dominance in the new game.

MenaRD Wins Second Major at CEO 2023

MenaRD was already one of the major players to watch after his incredible performance in Street Fighter V. However, he got off to a great start from the Street Fighter 6 Invitational from intel Plays. Here he easily won first place, setting the tone for the whole early portion of SF 6. At CEO 2023, the first North American Major for the game, the player has managed to repeat that feat.

CEO 2023 had some tough competition in Street Fighter. It featured two rounds of pools but by the time we got to the bracket MenaRD was already looking strong. The player entered the bracket at the top of the winner’s round, here he had the smoothest of runs through to the next stage, taking both matches 2-0. In the Finals bracket proper, MenaRD opened up against iDom, where he once again managed to go through without dropping a round. That lead him to the Winner’s Final, Punk put up a bigger fight taking a round off MenaRD, but the player still pushed through to complete a pretty clean run to the winners.

Even in the Grand Final, a lengthier match was avoided. It wasn’t exactly a clean sweep, but MenaRD beat Nephew 3-1 after that player had a dramatic rise up the loser’s side of the bracket.

Is MenaRD the best Street Fighter 6 Player?

With a limited number of tournaments to date, it is difficult to say exactly who the best Street Fighter 6 player is. MenaRD definitely looks like the strongest right now though, especially at this early point. If he keeps this up through EVO, the player might be set for a back-to-back win at the Capcom Cup.
