Mortal Kombat 1 is one of the biggest releases of the year. It’s already one of the best fighting games at the moment, but there’s one platform where it’s had major problems. Since launch, players have been eagerly sharing examples of how the game runs on Switch. Basically, it runs poorly. NetherRealm Studios have just made clear that MK 1 Switch fixes are coming though!

The game has been released on the newer sets of PlayStation and Xbox consoles, PC, and for some reason Switch. While the game was said to be too demanding to run on PlayStation 4, it has somehow made its way to Switch! Once we started to see more actual hands-on content though, players got a good idea of how significant its problems are. So, when are the MK 1 Switch fixes coming and will they be enough to salvage the title on the platform?

MK 1 Switch Fixes are Coming

The Switch edition of Mortal Kombat 1 has had a bad launch, it’s basically descended into being a punching bag. While the game on other platforms has received high praise, so far the title is a far cry on Switch.

Strangely, it’s not the first MK game to hit the Switch. Mortal Kombat 11 seemed similarly, a bit ambitious. However, in the end it ran really quite well on the platform all things considered. It became one of the best Switch fighting games and an impressive port for something so big. Can MK 1 be made into one of the best Switch fighters too?

Rather than coming straight from NetherRealm Studios, the Switch version of the game was ported over by Shiver Entertainment and Saber Interactive. In an interview with the BBC, ED Boom has acknowledged the problems. He’s said that the game has unacceptable problems, a nice recognition of the poor quality of the port. The Switch version of Mortal Kombat 1 will be receiving updates to fix this. These will be MK 1 Switch fixes that could make the game run considerably better.

We can expect some real improvements for this version of the game. It’s worth keeping in mind that MK 1 will always be a demanding title for the platform though. While the bugs can be fixed and the quality improved, it’ll always be a bit more of a compromise than the other versions of the game. Hopefully, the new fixes will bring it in line with the high standard set by the MK 11 port.
