Farlight 84 was released globally towards the end of April, emerging as a relatively new – if not massively unique – player in the battle royale space. From Singaporean developer, Lilith Games, Farlight 84 is something of a fusion between Apex Legends, Free Fire, and Fortnite – and while it has some standout features, it failed to ever move the market in a considerable way. It has been almost six months since it was released globally – how’s it going?

It’s important to stress that Lilith Games isn’t the only developer to try taking advantage of the almost universal popularity of the battle royale genre. It was made one of the most dominant genres by the likes of PUBG and Fortnite, and since then, almost every major developer has gotten involved with that niche in some way. That includes the likes of Activision, Bethesda, and Electronic Arts.

So, we’ve had a few months with Farlight 84, but is it still popular?

Is Farlight 84 Still Popular?

Farlight 84 hasn’t wavered too much in popularity since it hit the global market almost six months ago. If we use Steam as a representative example of the player base, we can see that there’s a peak concurrent player count that sits at around 28,000 users per day. That’s not a bad number by any means, and that’s on Steam – the most popular way to play Farlight 84 is via a mobile device.

On streaming platforms, Farlight 84 hasn’t proven popular – but that’s because there’s so much competition. For instance, Farlight 84’s performance on Twitch has crashed since that initial launch window in April 2023. In June, the game peaked at almost 60,000 concurrent views, but at the time of writing, the game’s seven-day average peak viewer count sits at around 1,024. Here are some comparisons to put that into perspective, looking at seven-day averages:

Apex Legends: 39,646
Fortnite: 46,040
Call of Duty Warzone: 32,770
Fall Guys: 2,666
Free Fire: 1,091

Is Farlight 84 Still Being Updated?

Farlight 84 is enjoying a slowly growing esports scene – and it’s constantly being updated by Lilith Games. There are new seasons flowing, fresh battle passes being introduced, and plenty of skins and special events hitting the ecosystem to keep the player base entertained. In the most recent update (at the time of writing), Lilith released a series of new events, new voiceovers and skins, and performed quality-of-life improvements across the board.

There are rumours of a new map coming to the game in the near future – and apparently, there’s also a solo queue coming at some point. At the moment, players can only queue into Duos and Squads modes, which isn’t the most welcoming thing to players who want to truly go it alone and fight one-on-one with their opponents.

In terms of the Farlight 84 esports scene, some grassroots tournaments have surfaced in recent weeks. On the game’s website, there’s a schedule that highlights daily tournaments – BO1 Knockout Rounds and the ACC: All-Capsuler Championship. It’s not attracting the attention of major esports organisations – but who knows? Given time, it certainly might do.
