EVO is the premier event for western fighting games. Most of the biggest fighting games make an appearance there, usually with a tournament and sometimes more. Since Sony has taken over EVO, the tournament has been used as a launching point to build hype for upcoming games. It looks like we’re getting more of that this year with a playable Mortal Kombat 1 demo at EVO!

Mortal Kombat 1 Demo Will be at EVO

Source: Warner Bros Games

The very first Mortal Kombat 1 Demo has been announced as a part of EVO. It isn’t going to be a fighting game esports tournament yet, but it will be at the tournament. This means major pros in all fighting games are going to get some hands-on experience with the early build of the game.

These players trying out mortal Kombat 1 should give us some hints about the direction the game is taking and how it plays mechanically. Getting trailers and reveals is one thing. However, actually seeing the reaction from esports level players to how its handling is going to give us a lot more information about what kind of a difference the title will make on pro MK. Similar to how much we learnt from the Street Fighter 6 demos.

Lately, this kind of thing has become increasingly common at EVO. Sony has been using it to announce new content for fighting games, making it almost like an E3 or Summer Games Fest specifically for fighting games. The tournaments at EVO 2023 are still the main event though!

What Can We Learn from Mortal Kombat 1 Demos?

The Mortal Kombat 1 demo at EVO is going to be an early look at the game. We can’t expect to learn too much about the modes, but new features form Mortal Kombat leaks like Kameos are going to be a big part of things. We’ll also get to see how the early roster is looking. All of this will help us paint a much clearer picture of how the Mortal Kombat 1 game will play once it actually arrives.
