Moist Esports and Shopify Rebellion recently came together to launch a combined team for the VALORANT Challengers North America. This collaboration has birthed a team named MxS, complete with its distinct branding and social media presence.
Ludwig Ahgren the co-owner of Moist Esports announced a series of show matches for the new team in the coming months. We just witnessed the first such match play out last night.
MxS shows massive growth potential against Cloud9
Ahgren’s ambition for MxS is clear-cut: to clinch victory in the NA Challengers, ascend to the VCT Americas, and establish dominance there. He also expressed a desire to challenge Riot Games’ VCT promotion system, which currently allows promoted teams to remain in the top-tier league for two consecutive seasons.
While the first showmatch was truly only for show, we did see MxS pull together some good starts and showcase some good synergy as as squad.
Given Ludwig’s profile and reach, I see MxS playing all premier VCT teams in short succession before next season. Additionally, after watching the entire show and all the maps, there is no doubt in my mind MxS mean business and are a serious contender next season.
We will likely see MxS play again in three weeks time with yet another showmatch. Details will follow shortly in our Valorant News section.
