An exciting week awaits on Steam, you can look forward to role-playing games, survival and tactics

Like every Monday, we present the most important new releases on Steam today – and this week looks much better than the last for PC gamers.

Fans of good stories in particular will get their money’s worth this week, as a role-playing game from ex-Witcher developers aims to rival Disco Elysium, which we consider the best story game of all time .

Highlight of the week: The Thaumaturge

(Genre: Role-playing game – Developer: Fool’s Theory – Release: March 4 (Steam)

In The Thaumaturge, a role-playing game from Fool’s Theory, you are immersed in a world that is as dark as it is fascinating. The setting: Poland at the beginning of the 20th century, an era that is probably not immediately associated with fantasy and demon hunting

You take on the role of the mysterious Wiktor Szulski, a thaumaturge who has the unique ability to communicate with spirits, the so-called Salutors. These spirits have the power to possess people and plunge their lives into chaos. Wiktor, who is himself haunted by one such Salutor called Upyr, embarks on an adventurous journey to track down other demons and sever the bonds of their unsuspecting hosts.

The game combines real-life locations with a dark fantasy story inspired by Polish and Russian folklore. The battles in The Thaumaturge are turn-based, where you only control Wiktor and his selected Salutor. A tactical approach is required, as you have to observe your opponents’ actions closely in order to overpower them at the right moment.

In addition to the battles, detective gameplay plays an important role. Thanks to Wiktor’s powers of perception and his magical abilities, you can find evidence and question key people. This allows you to unlock new conversation options and avoid potential conflicts
