Every year, there are tons of new fighting games get released. 2023 so far has been dominated by the 2D more competitive fighter, but that’s not the only type of upcoming fighting game. One big genre is the platform fighter. The Smash-Bros-like is basically a genre in of itself these days, with MultiVersus, Disney Domination, and more having a crack at the platform party fighter. One of the more mixed attempts at a Smash Bros style game is about to get a sequel too, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2.
Ludosity and Fair Play Labs have announced a brand-new iteration in this fighting game series. While the first title had some flaws and lost a lot of its player base quickly after release, it seems they’ve not given up on making the series a mainstay. A new trailer is coming with a lot of new features.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2
This is going to be a new game, following on from the original 2021 game. It’s adding in quite a few new features and areas too. There will be a much bigger roster of characters with some changes to their movesets, along with new additions overall. The combat system is receiving some big tweaks. One of the major ones shown off so far is super moves, kind of like Final Smash moves in Smash Bros.
Along with changes to the core fighting, there’s going to be a bigger campaign mode this time around. It’ll also feature crossplay, so everyone on any platform can play together.
Nickelodeon All Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl originally launched to quite a bit of attention in 2021. It mainly failed to live up to its potential though even with more All-Star Brawl updates. It’s few early events were all it really got for fighting game esports. While a solid title, it was clear this was not a Smash killer.
This second game in the franchise looks substantially more polished and more of a full package than the first. While titles MultiVersus have come and gone in the time since the first Nick All-Star, there’s clearly an appetite for more Smash-styles fighters out there. Hopefully, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 can deliver on some of that promise with its sequel.
