There are two games out there that appear on every conceivable system: Doom and Skyrim. A fancy earring provides the latest proof

In 20 years, we’ll be placing bets on whether Skyrim or Doom will have appeared on more platforms. At the moment, however, classic Doom is still ahead, as the old-school shooter has much more tolerable system requirements for running on a calculator, a fridge display or a pregnancy test (no joke), for example.

Or – the latest example: on an earring. The streamer and developer Alina Matson bought earrings from TinyCircuits and modified the software so that Doom runs on the tiny display. Of course, there’s also video proof:

In fairness, the earring manufacturers are already going more than half way for them. The TinyCircuits earrings cost just under 25 euros and conceal a small Rasperry Pi in the housing, which contains around half a dozen pre-installed games as standard, which you can operate using the tiny digicross and two buttons.

Meanwhile, Matson has pulled Doom onto the device and got it running. Whether it’s fun to play on this tiny display is another matter – but hey: at least in theory, classic Doom can be played on it. By the way, here’s the pregnancy test if you’re curious:

Yesterday I had a lot of retweets and reddit posts and such for playing Doom on a pregnancy test.
But as I explained then, it wasn’t really PLAYING on a pregnancy test, it was just a video being played back, not an interactive game.

Well, now it is. It’s Pregnancy Test Doom! pic.twitter.com/Nrjyq07EVvv

And hey, the earring might not be the worst platform to run Doom on. After all, someone has already installed the shooter on a Mac touchbar or alternatively on the display of a printer.

TinyCircuits also sells a tiny arcade machine as big as your index finger, or alternatively a TV that you can balance on your thumb. So if you want to torment the inhabitants of your doll’s house with Star Wars 8, here’s the perfect opportunity
