Worlds 2024 semifinals set to be held in Paris

According to a report by Brieuc “LEC Wooloo” Seeger for Sheep Esports, The League of Legends World Championship semifinals will be hosted in Paris, hinting at the fact that Europe will be the hosting region for the 2024 edition. sources tell Sheep Esports.

Shortly after the end of the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational in London back in May, Esports News UK had previously reported that the French city could host a stage of the tournament, alongside London, Berlin, and Barcelona. Additionally, London is reported to be the hosting city for the Grand Finals, with the O2 Arena being the chosen venue. MSI 2023, in comparison, was held at the Copper Box Arena.

Worlds will be returning to EU after five years

If this were to be the case, Worlds 2024 would make its return to the European region after five long years of wait. The last time EU hosted a World Championship in 2019 was the grand finals in Europe, when G2 Esports succumbed to LPL team FunPlus Phoenix (FPX) in front of their own home crowd.

France and Europe getting another major esports event further proves the country’s affinity with gaming and esports space. Earlier last month, Montpellier was the hosting city for the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) with three consecutive days of full action between EMEA Masters and the LEC Season Finals.

Additionally, French organization Karmine Corp hosted their own event KCX3 in Paris, at the La Defense Arena, drawing nearly 30,000 fans in one of the biggest European esports events ever held. That being said, it’s still unconfirmed which cities are going to be hosting the different stages of Worlds 2024. Stay tuned to find more coverage around this story as it develops in the future.
