Apex Legends is a huge Battle Royale, and it’s available across pretty much all of the major platforms. A recent update has made the experience even more fun on different devices. Apex Legends cross progression was finally added recently, allowing players to use the same account and work towards common goals on different platforms. You can start a Battle Pass on PC and finish unlocking the Apex skins on console. However, nearly a month later a lot of players are still waiting for access.
Strangely, Respawn decided to handle the rollout in a staggered way. Quite a few players have already gotten the pop-up letting them know that all their accounts will be under one EA ID. However, others are still holding on. Why is the feature being rolled out in such a gradual way and when will everyone get access?
Apex Legends Cross Progression
Cross progression for Apex has taken quite a bit longer than most players expected. Respawn began rolling the new feature out, but quickly ran into problems. More recently, they’ve returned to the rollout and started adding it in waves. Quite a few players have started getting prompted to combine accounts.
While more players are getting their Apex Legends cross progression update, things aren’t progressing entirely smoothly. Respawn has had to specify that players don’t unlink their Play Account to keep the process going smoothly. In the past, doing this has led to payers getting locked out entirely. While the update seems to be going smoothly, things are progressing slowly.
Cross Progression Coming in Waves
While cross progression is a fairly standard feature for live service games like Apex Legends, it’s had a gradual rollout. After Respawn ran into so many problems implementing the process they’ve decided to take things slow. Players are essentially waiting to be chosen at random for the update. Some people who only use one platform have reported getting the feature. Some who have been waiting for the update on the other hand often find themselves kept waiting. Frustrating if you’re trying to climb up the ranking system and are worried about the account changes impacting progress.
Rolling things out slowly like this might help to make sure cross progression avoids some of its past problems. However, the slowed rollout has been a frustrating experience for some. Hopefully, the rollout can be concluded this year and everyone can get the feature.
