Krafton, the South Korean developer behind the PUBG IP, announced in a press release that it’s bringing a new and exciting mobile game. The company has tied up with Ironmace to create the mobile version of the Dark and Darker, a first-person dungeon escape game.

The announcement follows immediately after a United States court dismissed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Ironmace last week. Dark and Darker has been in a legal tussle throughout the year after South Korean game dev company Nexon alleged that it stole elements from a game that it was developing. Nexon had said that one of its developers who was fired for leaking game data went on to work in Dark and Darker at Ironmace.

Dark and Darker mobile version is on its way

Dark and Darker is a first-person Dungeon escape title that also combines elements from the battle royale genre. Its early access was released on Aug. 7, 2023. Now, the game is headed to Android and iOS as well.

“We’ve been watching Dark and Darker’s potential and distinct creativity with great interest. From the genre to the setting of the overall IP, Dark and Darker tapped into something compelling with its existing PC release. Here at Krafton, we can’t wait to share these exciting dungeon runs with a whole new community of fans on mobile.”

said Rafael Lim, Senior Head of Publishing at KRAFTON.

A release date for the game, however, hasn’t been revealed yet. With Krafton just announcing the development of the game, it remains to be seen when it eventually releases.

Krafton is expanding its mobile portfolio

Krafton has been expanding its mobile portfolio rapidly. This comes after the immense success it has seen with PUBG Mobile and Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI).

In 2023 alone, it announced two mobile games through its subsidiaries. One is the card-based real-time strategy game, Road to Valor: Empires, which is similar to Clash Royale and developed by Dreamotion. Defense Derby, on the other hand, is the second title which has been created by Rising Wings.

Dark and Darker Mobile, though, is different from these titles. This is because it will only be developed by Krafton itself instead of a subsidiary.
