For years, PUBG’s players have been seeking out those cherished ‘chicken dinners’ by winning rounds in the popular battle royale game. Now, thanks to a limited partnership between KRAFTON and KFC, players can quite literally pick up a chicken dinner in PUBG. With the latest update to the game, all gas stations littered around PUBG’s ‘Erangel’ map have been replaced with KFC establishments, and yes, players can visit them to pick up some finger-lickin’ chicken.

It’s the latest in a long line of gaming-related partnerships and sponsor deals for KFC, which has been getting much more involved with the industry in recent years. This latest campaign will last a month in PUBG, and it arrived as part of the 26.1 update that brought many more changes and improvements to the game.

In a 49-second-long trailer, KRAFTON and KFC revealed the partnership that brings KFC’s restaurants to PUBG’s Erangel map. From players sauntering in to order their favourite chicken dinner – that also gives them in-game boosts – to exclusive KFC-themed outfits, there’s plenty to soak up as part of this limited-time partnership.

But what do the KFC-themed additions actually mean for PUBG players who are seeking out in-game entertainment?

If you pick up a ‘KFC Chicken Combo’ from one of the kiosks found inside a restaurant, you’ll be able to use it to restore lost health. There’s even a unique animation that’ll see your player character munch a chicken drumstick to heal up. It’s essentially a reskinned First Aid Kit. Then, there are the ‘Secret Recipe’ KFC Fries, which function like bandages when you’re wounded – again, there’s a unique animation in store.

Finally, there’s the KFC Drink, which is a simple canned beverage that mimics the Energy Drink item that has been in PUBG for some time.

Outside of these elements, KRAFTON has added billboards and banners advertising KFC around the game’s various maps, boosting the visibility of the promotion.

So, even if you’re not quite good enough at PUBG to secure a chicken dinner, you can still secure a chicken dinner.

Recently, KFC launched partnerships with the Saudi Esports Federation, Square Enix, Activision Blizzard, and miHoYo, among others. There are concerns that aggressively campaigning what could be considered harmful junk food to gamers is a worrying concept, but for the most part, the community revels in these promotions.
