Riot Games has announced that players who exhibit toxic or otherwise disruptive behaviour may be banned from ranked matches in the future.
Riot Games’ fight against Toxicity continues. In a new blog article on behavioural systems, the developers announced that toxic players may be banned from Ranked in the future. This is to make the overall gaming experience more enjoyable for League of Legends players and keep the community clean.
Ranked ban for toxic players
In a (blog article) dated May 24, Riot Games announced some innovations to the behavioural systems in League of Legends.
One of the most important changes is a future ranked ban for toxic players.
These are, according to the article, players who exhibit “disruptive behaviour such as deliberate sabotage, multiple inactivity and serious misconduct in chat”.
In order to lift the ranked ban, punished players must first play a few games in other cues.
According to the developers, if conspicuous players repeatedly display disruptive behaviour, they may even be subject to temporary account suspension which prevents players from playing games regardless of the queue.
It is not entirely clear exactly when the new rules will apply and when the first bans will come into effect. The blog post states that the new measures “will apply in the next few months “
Riot’s fight against toxicity
The League of Legends community has a pretty bad reputation. Most of the time, unfortunately, this is not unjustified.
For this reason, the developers have already repeatedly introduced new measures in the past to improve the player experience and make the community less toxic.
For example, in April 2023, a new feature was introduced that allows players to report even after a match
Also, according to (Dev-Blog) the automatic muting of toxic players during an ongoing match has already produced an improvement in the League experience.
Riot Games is thus constantly working to improve the experience of their community and make the game a less toxic place.
