The Roobet Cup 2023 has revealed the first eight teams set to compete in the upcoming online tournament, with a few big names headlining. Last year, the competition held its first iteration, with BIG coming out on top against FaZe Clan.

This time around, the prize pool remains at $250,000, running from 25th October – 2nd November 2023. With the proposed dates, we could even see the Roobet Cup 2023 take place on Counter-Strike 2. Let’s take a look and see who’ll be involved later this year!

The Competing Teams

With a total of sixteen teams taking part, we only know half of the teams that will be competing for the Roobet Cup 2023 and its prize. The full list so far is as follows:

Fnatic
9z Team

Up to now, it’s a good mix of Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams that should provide a solid level of competition. Astralis in particular are the highlight here, having impressed of late with their new-look roster. We’ll be keeping an eye on Virtus.pro, too. The team haven’t made too many appearances at big tournaments of late, but always perform well against strong opposition with Jame’s unique playstyle.

Although it’s an impressive group of teams, it will be interesting to see if the remaining eight features a truly top-tier team. Vitalty, Heroic, ENCE even. That would make the Roobet Cup 2023 a truly premier tournament when it begins later this year.

Roobet Cup 2023 Format

The Roobet Cup 2023 will be following the exact same format as last year. To begin, the sixteen teams are separated into four groups of four. In each group, the team that goes 2:0 progresses, while the 0:2 team goes home. The teams that are 1:1 then duke it out for one final spot, with two teams progressing from each group.

After the Group Stage comes to an end, we move to a standard Playoff format. Best-of-threes, from the Quarter-Finals, all the way to the Grand Final. It’s a great format that should see plenty of fireworks on the server.
