Street Fighter 6 has had a really strong first year, becoming easily one of the best fighting games. In raw terms of sales though, it’s just passed yet another milestone. Right now, SF 6 Steam sales have made it the best-selling title in Japan. Months after its first release, the title is right on top of the charts. Even as we’re seeing more big new fighters release this year, Street Fighter 6 has continued to dominate. What’s made it such a success?
SF 6 Steam Sales Push Title to Top of Charts in Japan
SF 6 Steam sales have been pretty solid since release. The game itself has had great sales since release but its continued longevity is impressive for a fighter, there are a few factors. Months after its first release it’s still shifting more copies than brand-new games, most recently reaching the top-selling game slot in Japan on Steam. A lot of players are pointing towards the hype over the Capcom Cup as a big factor.
Street Fighter 6 has had a record-breaking Capcom Cup accompanying it for its first year. The huge prize pool on offer for players here has more fighters than ever trying it out. It’s not just the CPT either, Street Fighter 6 is regularly getting other majors that attract a new audience to the title.
While Street Fighter has consistently been a well-selling series, the success of SF 6 has been huge. Even the biggest fighting games tend to drop off after a little while. Once a title is bought once, players are more often focused on new DLC that comes out, few fighters continue selling for years and years. With SF 6 Steam sales making it the best-selling game once again, it doesn’t look like anything is slowing down here. SF 6 could continue to be one of the best-selling fighting games even into 2024.
