It was revealed by Ubisoft just hours ago that the Six Invitational 2024 – the biggest annual tournament in the Rainbow Six space – is headed to Sao Paolo, Brazil in February. It’s right now that tickets are available online for this monumental event, which typically marks the most popular time of the year for Rainbow Six esports. It was noted that this is the first international Six Siege event to take place in Brazil since 2018, and the vibrant R6 community in-country is likely very eager for the event to hit.

At present, the full roster of teams that’ll be competing at the event isn’t known. Towards the end of October 2023, we’ll see the BLAST R6 Major Atlanta play out, boasting a $750,000 prize pool – and once that event has wrapped up, we’ll have a better idea of the global standings and thus an image of some of the teams competing at the Sao Paolo Invitational.

Typically, the Six Invitational features up to sixteen teams that have qualified through the global standings and a further four teams that have won a regional qualifier. Last year’s tournament – which took place in Montreal – was a coming together of the best Rainbow Six players in the business, and it was G2 Esports that stood victorious when the dust had settled, staking a claim to the $1,000,000 grand prize.

It was W7M that came in second place, and this year, that squad is looking to play out a redemption story. I wonder who is sitting at the very top of the Rainbow Six Siege global standings right now? That’s right – W7M Esports.

If we work with the global standings as they exist right now, here are ten teams that could take to the grandest stage in Rainbow Six esports in Sao Paolo next year:

W7M Esports
Team Liquid
FaZe Clan
Soniqs
KAWASAKI SCARZ
G2 Esports
MNM Gaming
Virtus.Pro
Ninjas in Pyjamas
DPLUS KIA

Of course, the standings are subject to change – there’s a hefty window between now and the Six Invitational 2024.

What Else Do We Know About The Six Invitational 2024?

This time around, the Six Invitational will play out in the prestigious Ginásio do Ibirapuera stadium, and once again, there’s a massive $3 million prize pool on the line. It’s one of the biggest single prize pools in esports, and it always shows the value in Rainbow Six esports. We’re now breaking into the ninth year of Rainbow Six Siege, and honestly, the game shows no sign of slowing down any time soon.

There were some concerns recently regarding wavering viewership figures, but the ecosystem as a whole remains strong and stable. During the Six Invitational, there will be a period of play lasting around two weeks, with the competition being split up into a group stage and then two rounds of playoffs. It’s only the second part of the playoffs that will be made open to the public – and that lasts from the 23rd to the 25th of February.

Will G2 Esports lift the hammer again in front of a vibrant Brazilian crowd, or will W7M play out that redemption story?
