Even if you’re pirating the Indian Ocean in Skull & Bones, you can now also do something good with the game. Together with Oceana, Ubisoft has announced the charity event Waves of Change, with which the gaming company wants to support the preservation of the oceans.
Fight opponents and save the oceans! This probably sums up the motto of , the charity event currently being held by Skull & Bones. This will take place until March 31st and is jointly organized by Ubisoft and Oceana.
For every opponent that players defeat during the event period, Ubisoft will collect donations for the preservation of the underwater ecosystem. The goal is to raise 300,000 euros by the end of the month
Oceana is the largest international organization dedicated exclusively to the preservation of the oceans. Its mission is to protect and restore the oceans by implementing targeted campaigns based on law, science, grassroots movements, advocacy and strategic communications. These tools will be used to implement policy changes globally to protect the oceans in the long term.
With the new Skull & Bones event, Ubisoft wants to support Oceana in this endeavor.
Environmental protection does not stop with Skull & Bones
Ubisoft is a founding member of the UN environmental program Playing for the Planet Alliance, in which the company has committed to reducing its own carbon footprint. At the same time, the company wants to encourage and inspire the global community to do the same.
A corresponding project in Skull & Bones therefore seems fitting. After all, where would our beloved pirates be without the oceans?
Neven Dravinski, Senior Producer of Skull & Bones at Ubisoft Singapore, explains this project as follows: At Ubisoft, we believe that we can harness the power of video games to raise awareness and take action on environmental issues. We are very proud to give Skull and Bones players the opportunity to support Oceana’s important work to protect our oceans with ‘Waves of Change’. By bringing our community together through the fun gameplay they know and love, we can help make a difference for a cause close to our team’s hearts.
If you’d like to support Oceana and Ubisoft in this project, you can either take on your enemies in your own game of Skull & Bones or try out the free trial. You can find more information about the pirate adventure in the following overview:
