Super Smash Bros is one of the biggest fighting games. With no larger circuits running at the moment though, tournaments are still running but without a huge ending event. The game isn’t currently getting the kind of prize pools you’ll see for Street Fighter 6. Tournament organizers are going the distance to fill that gap though, boosting the prizes to keep Smash Bros tournaments worthwhile for all the best players to attend. Smash Factor 11 has just been announced, with a huge prize on offer.
It might not be a replacement for a developer-sponsored circuit. However, organizers are getting the prizes much higher. It’s definitely helping to keep Smash as one of the biggest titles. This is what we’ve learned about the next tournament, Smash Factor 11.
Smash Factor 11 Gets Record Prize Pool
This weekend saw Smash Bros get a huge tournament in Smash Factor. It’s one of the biggest fighting game events in Mexico, with a focus on Super Smash Bros. The tenth Smash Factor took place over the weekend with some surprising results. Sparg0 came out in first, only just losing out to Sonix. While Sparg0’s return to form is definitely impressive, Sonix’s last few tournaments have really proven how far he can take Sonic the Hedgehog.
Outside of some unexpected finishes, there was one other major bit of news at Smash Factor, the announcement of the next tournament in the series.
The Smash Factor tournament is returning for yet another round! Smash Factor 11 has been unveiled, but it has a prize pool which is pretty eye-catching. The next tournament in the series has a pool that’s risen up to $1,000,000 Mexican, or around $60,000 US. That’s a huge improvement over the $106,300 on offer for Ultimate this time around.
Smash Factor 11 is still a little way off. It’ll. Be a while until we know how that prize pool will break down and what games besides Ultimate are going to be featured. It’s great to see a high level of support still being provided for Smash Bros though.
