Renowned Indian Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) professional player, Raj “Snax” Varma, recently addressed a critical aspect of the esports industry that sparked a wave of discussions among his fanbase. Snax shed light on the misconceptions surrounding esports salaries, stating the challenges and realities that aspiring players face.

In a recent live stream, Snax clarified a statement he made earlier, stating that in esports, players get a salary between INR 1 lakh to 2.5 lakh. He expressed concern that many viewers misunderstood this as the basic package for all esports players. In reality, Snax highlighted that only a select few at the top players get such high salary. “Only the players at the top level get this kind of salary; there are hardly 15-20 players that get this kind of salary,” he said.

“Viewers who were thinking that 1 to 2 lakh salary is a huge thing for someone coming from a middle class family. However, you didn’t take into account that you will get it as long as you perform. When your downfall starts, it ends. Players grind for three to four years to get such a salary,” he said.

Snax’s Advice to Aspiring Esports Players

Snax adviced aspiring esports professionals to always have a backup plan. He stressed the volatility of the industry, highlighting the need for players to prepare for unforeseen circumstances. “When you reach the peak level, you can start working on your YouTube channel and your personality so that you sustain for a long time,” he added.

Snax clarified that he does not advocate leaving esports. Instead, he sees it as a stepping stone to greater opportunities. “Esports is the only thing right now that can help you reach at the top level. What I mean to say is, if you want to become like MortaL, you can’t start directly with content creation; you must start with esports,” he explained.

Snax’s insights provide a realistic perspective on the current condition of the esports industry. Aspiring gamers would do well to heed Snax’s words, recognizing the importance of dedication, strategic planning, and adaptability in the ever-evolving landscape of competitive gaming.
