SonicFox is far and away one of the best fighting game players in the world. Already a common answer to who is the best player of all time. The fighting game giant will be a free agent again though, as today we’ve seen the announcement of SonicFox leaving Evil Geniuses. The player is parting ways with his team and is once again free to join the burgeoning rosters of any other org with eyes on a fighting game team.

SonicFox is a great fighting game player who has managed big things in a ton of different titles, achieving big things in most of the best fighting games. He’s a multi-time EVO winner in the past, having won for Injustice: Gods Among Us, Mortal Kombat X, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Skullgirls, and Mortal Kombat 11. With all of these results, it would be possible to call him the best fighting game player. Why is he back on the market as a free agent then?

SonicFox Leaving Evil Geniuses

SonicFox might be one of the best FGC players of all, time, but at the moment he’s going to be without an org. The player tweeted today announcing SonicFox leaving Evil Geniuses. His departure from the team hasn’t had any further explanation from the player. He’s simply let the world know that he’ll be leaving the org, and is open to joining another.

SonicFox has been part of EvilGeniuses since 2020, joining the team after a long run at Echo Fox before that team’s disbanding. His run with Evil Geniuses has been a long one. The player has been dipping his toes into some of the new releases of the year more recently. He’s appeared in some Street Fighter 6 tournaments and seems to be grinding away faithfully at Mortal Kombat 1.

With quite a few new fighting game releases this year, SonicFox might have more EVO wins still to come. He’s definitely an attractive signing to any fighting game org looking for a fresh player. With SonicFox leaving Evil Geniuses, plenty of orgs have the chance to get one of the top players on their roster for 2024.
