The big update 1.6 for the life simulation will be released on March 19, 2024. However, the release time depends on when the solo developer ConcernedApe gets up

Two weeks ago, the release date of the next major update for Stardew Valley was announced: On March 19, patch 1.6 will bring lots of new features to the popular life sim. Initially only for PC, however, consoles and mobile platforms will follow a little later.

Many fans are eagerly awaiting the release and want to know what time exactly the update will go live.

Solo developer ConcernedApe is very relaxed about this and doesn’t seem to be fazed by the upcoming release. It’s not his first ride, after all

When exactly will Update 1.6 be released?

On X (formerly Twitter), ConcernedApe replied to an inquiry, the update will be out after his morning coffee Unless there is a last minute bug that he has to fix first

@ConcernedApe what time of the day will the update be released on?

As soon as I wake up, have a coffee and there’s no last-minute problem, I press the button if everything is going well, so sometime in the morning. I’ll let everyone know when it starts.

He lives in the USA, so allow for the time difference of several hours. We’re currently eight hours ahead of the American west coast, so the update will go live in the evening

Fans are hoping for a reliable coffee machine

Many users on Reddit are praising the fact that the developer is not getting too stressed (at least outwardly). In addition, some are keeping their fingers crossed from now until the release that the coffee machine doesn’t give up the ghost on the morning of March 19 of all days.

Others are hoping that he won’t drink a cold brew that has to steep for three hours – all with a wink, of course.

For those worried about the savegame: ConcernedApe has already confirmed that saves will continue to work as normal after the update. So there is no wipe and you can update your game directly.

Incidentally, the developer’s real name is Eric Barone. He started working on Stardew Valley back in 2012, four years before its release. To date, the solo project has sold over 30 million copies
