The developers of Starship Troopers Extermination reveal the roadmap for the Early Access phase. Included are new bugs, planets, modes and much more.

Starship Troopers: Extermination got off to a dream start on Steam. Players were thrilled and that hasn’t changed to this day – quite the opposite. The surprisingly bug-free for an Early Access title bugged co-op shooter is enthroned today (with almost 15,000 reviews at 93 percent) positively.

Roadmap for Starship Troopers: Extermination

The developers recently laid out their plan for how the virtual battlefield between bugs and troopers will evolve in the future. A roadmap, consisting of five phases, lays out the march.

However, they also point out that the roadmap is a living roadmap. The content or order can therefore change at any time, as the game is being expanded, balanced and fine-tuned together with the community according to their feedback.

Regular bug fixes, adjustments or similar, which is commonly expected from regular patches, is not included in the developers’ listing. In addition, the developers do not give a time frame for when which phase will begin or end.

Currently the game is in phase 1 after its Early Access release. In this phase, two new game modes will find their way into the title.
In phase 2 among other things, a Hord mode will be introduced. On top of that, players will get real profiles, as befits soldiers with a real record.

Phase 3 will probably first of all fundamentally revise the progression of the classes. Furthermore, the abilities will be adapted and expanded to match this. In addition, the bugs will now form insect sticks. What this means exactly, we do not know yet.

With Phase 4 an as yet unspecified boss bug moves into its lair. But the arguably far more exciting points are clans, new weapons and, above all, a new planet that serves as a battlefield.

With the release approaching, the phase 5 final stage of Early Access brings a Galactic War Meta-Game, player soldier customisations and a new class to the title.

Generally, the roadmap appears to be enormously comprehensive, but lacks detail. Much is no more than a single item on a long list of indents. So it remains to be seen when, what and in what form will find its way into the battles between insects and humans.

Watching Twitter shows many happy players looking forward to the upcoming content, but some requests also surface, these include:

Better support for controllers. One developer responded directly to this, (that this would be addressed during Early Access).

Several players (expressed concerns regarding Player Customization). Here, urgent care should be taken that the immersion is not disturbed by fancy designs. Examples are extravagant skins or colours that do not fit into the dark world of Starship Troopers, for example pink is directly identified as a supposedly evil splash of colour.

Have you already shouldered your rifle and are bravely heading into the bug-infested battles of the co-op shooter? What are you most looking forward to from the roadmap and what do you think is missing? What feature does the game definitely still need? Feel free to write us your opinions, wishes and thoughts on the subject in the comments!
