The Capcom Cup is one of the biggest circuits running this year and we’re getting close to our conclusion. While a lot of players are already prepping for their matches in the Finals, we have a few more slots that are open for the very best players at the moment. Most recently, we’ve seen both Takamura and Bravery qualify for the Capcom Cup in this weekend’s events.
These latest two players have secured their spots through the World Warrior events. These World Warrior tournaments are an alternative route to the finals, different to the Capcom Pro Tour Majors we’ve seen throughout the year. However, the regional events are getting more of the top players their slots confirmed. How have our latest two competitors found their way to the final?
Takamura Takes Victory in World Warrior Europe West
In the Europe West region for the Capcom Pro Tour events, we have a final take place over the weekend. There were multiple qualifiers going on right now, but for some in Europe this could have been their last chance. Quite a few major names were scheduled for this tournament. Xerna was maybe the biggest hopeful going in, as the first-seeded player. However, it was Takamura who won and secured their place in the Capcom Cup.
Takamura had a few tough spots in his run. He played against Libbro twice. In a clear demonstration of skill beyond the rest of the bracket he won twice, not dropping a set. It was an impressive performance. The player came back from his fourth seed to take the first spot and move forward to the finals next year.
Bravery Secures Spot in Southeast Asia
West Europe wasn’t the only region playing this weekend. We also saw Southeast Asia have their conclusion. This was a bit of a unique tournament, since Xian decided to enter once again. That player already has his slot at the Capcom Cup, but he won this event too. Looking at the best SF 6 players in the finals, Xian is definitely going to be a contender now we’ve seen him triumph more than once.
In the Grand Final, we saw Xian face Bravery. While Xian won 3-0, Bravery also secured a slot at the Cup. Since the 1st placing player is already qualified, Bravery was able to turn defeat into victory.
These new qualifications for the Capcom Cup help flesh out the competitors even further. We’re getting pretty close to the conclusion now, with most of the players now locked in.
