Battlestate Games has shared a post on social media talking about what’s coming in the immediate future for Escape from Tarkov Arena. In a brief post, a series of major and minor changes were discussed, with Battlestate highlighting the desire to make the Tarkov ‘ecosystem’ as seamless and accessible as possible. Tarkov Arena was released in December following months of testing and has been relatively well received by fans looking for a session-based, traditional multiplayer alternative to Escape from Tarkov.

In the post on Twitter, Battlestate Games referred to changes being made to the matchmaking systems, customisation aspects of Arena, and linking with ‘main’ Escape from Tarkov accounts. There’s plenty on the horizon for this hyper-competitive game, which last month enjoyed exposure through its first esports tournament, held at DreamHack in Hannover. It’s a solid multiplayer shooter even for those who haven’t ever stepped foot into Escape from Tarkov’s damning, challenging landscape.

What’s the Next Tarkov Arena Update?

Battlestate posted a message discussing the string of changes coming to Tarkov Arena in future updates. It was first mentioned that core improvements are being made to optimise the game client and the network component, reducing issues like desynchronisation and long loading times. In addition, the ranked matchmaking system will be examined and adapted to provide ‘balanced’ matches that will avoid low-level players fighting enemies with high-tier equipment.

An unranked mode will also be added to Tarkov Arena, giving players an increasingly casual environment to compete in.

In an update coming soon to the ecosystem, Battlestate will synchronise Escape from Tarkov and Escape from Tarkov Arena, allowing players to cross their experience, gains, skills, and money between each platform. There will also be the ability to add equipment presets, much like there already is in Escape from Tarkov’s core gameplay experience.

There will be an ability to customise private matches added to Tarkov Arena, and the ‘Last Hero’ mode will be added. Finally, a new location – or ‘map’ is being added shortly, but it hasn’t yet been revealed what that map will look like.

That’s plenty for starters – as this is a live service game of sorts, it’ll be updated over time with a regular cadence by Battlestate Games. It’ll also undergo ‘wipes’ just like Escape from Tarkov, which means that every few months, the game will be reset for all players.
