According to a new document from the Microsoft hearing, the Skyrim sequel is roughly scheduled for 2026. Also, no PS5 version is officially coming out.
If The Elder Scrolls 6 is released, then this game is guaranteed to be probably the most sensational release of the entire gaming year. The only thing that has been unclear for years is when exactly it will be. And that, although the role-playing game was announced five years ago.
At the moment, however, 2026 seems to be at least the first conceivable option, which would be in about three years after all. This year has now been confirmed in a newly published document, which emerged in the course of the FTC hearing and (was discovered by The Verge). In addition, however, there was also a pretty clear rejection for all PlayStation players.
No Elder Scrolls on PS5
A huge surprise all this is not, after already Starfield was released exclusively on the PC and Xbox. For a long time, however, the official representatives were very vague about whether Elder Scrolls would be released for the PlayStation or not. For example, in a recent (interview with Bloomberg) Xbox boss Phil Spencer didn’t let himself be carried away into making a clear rejection of the PlayStation. Instead, he talked about them looking at exclusives from game to game
If the now-released document and its outlook on the future of Bethesda games is to be believed, Microsoft is not currently expecting a release for the PlayStation. This is shown by a bold, red cross, in the PlayStation column of the following table:

Is Elder Scrolls 6 really coming in 2026?
The same table shows that a release in 2026 or later is targeted. However, we wouldn’t put too much hope in 2026 The date seems too early, considering that the development of this huge role-playing game has only really just started.
Although fans are naturally hoping for 2026, we think a later date is much more likely. It might even be 2028 before that But at least it’s good to hear that Microsoft thinks 2026 is at least realistic enough to call that year. But part of the truth is that the table is apparently quite old. After all, even Starfield doesn’t have an exact release date here yet.
What’s your take on this? Do you think 2026 is realistic or is Microsoft overshooting the mark? Would you even want a release this early or do you think it would be better if Bethesda took more time? Do you have wishes and hopes for the next fantasy role-playing game in Tamriel? Write it to us in the comments!
