Call of Duty”s Battle Royale is getting another big new map with Modern Warfare 3. We have all the important information and changes.
A big change is coming soon for Call of Duty: Warzone It”s off to a new, big Battle Royale map! It”s called Urzikstan, it”s coming before the end of December 2023 and it overturns a lot of what Al-Mazrah had brought to the game.
We have answered the most important questions for you. Use our quick navigation to jump directly to the points that are of particular interest to you:
Release: When will Urzikstan be released?
Setting: What kind of map is Urzikstan?
Changes: What is running differently on the map than before?
Modes: What game modes are available at launch?
Points of Interest: What are the most important places on the map?
What will happen to the old map Al-Mazrah?
Release: When will Urzikstan be released?
Urzikstan is set to launch with the first season of Modern Warfare 3, according to insiders on December 5, 2023, but this date has not yet been officially confirmed.
The download will probably be available again a short time before, as usual. We will keep you posted!
Setting: What kind of map is Urzikstan?
Urzikstan is a fictional country in the CoD universe that you already know from Modern Warfare (2019). It is located in Western Asia on the coast of the Black Sea and is home to the resistance fighter Farah Karim. The eponymous map consists of a large city and the surrounding area.
You will also be travelling through Urzikstan in the campaign, but only in parts. As usual, you will also discover some of the multiplayer maps in the large BR map – CoD sticks to the tried and tested concept.
Optically, the whole thing is reminiscent of Verdansk, especially the buildings and the moderate colour scheme. It remains to be seen whether it plays as well as the classic warzone map of yesteryear.
Changes: What is different on the map than before?
Gulag: This is where you end up if you get shot down in a match. In a 1-on-1 battle against another fallen player, you”ll have a chance to fight your way back, the winner will bounce back over Urzikstan.
This time there is no AI opponent and no team fights in the gulag, instead three lanes in the classic way again. However, there is also a version where you end up in the gulag at night and have to use your night vision devices. This is a random event and it is supposed to happen relatively rarely, but make the rounds a bit more varied.
(In the Gulag, it”s 1v1 again.)
Movement: Call fo Duty: Warzone adopts the revised movement from Modern Warfare 3. For example, slide-cancelling is possible again.
UI: The Ui will also be based on Modern Warfare 3. From release, there will once again be a mini-map with red dots indicating enemies in your vicinity.
Faster action: The pace of the deadly circle, which is getting smaller and smaller, is to be adjusted. Developers say they hope this will result in faster action than before
Driveable Train: As in Verdansk, there is a train on the map. This time, however, you can take it over yourself in order to stop it, make it move backwards or forwards. Since there is a buying station on it, it could become a valuable base for your team – but it will be hard-fought for.
Loot in colour: The rarity level of your weapons will now be marked in colour like before. This makes it easier for you to see what is worth keeping and what you can leave behind. Custom weapons will be given a special colour.
Modes: Which game modes will be available at launch?
Battle Royale (big variant on Urzikstan, small one on Vondel).
Resurgence (with respawns, on Vondel and Ashika Island)
Plunder (with respawns and money collecting, on Urzikstan)
2024 two popular maps are also to return: Rebirth Island and Fortune”s Keep. Resurgence used to be played on these, so that should be the case again this time.
Points of Interest: What are the most important places on the map?
So far, eleven important points of interest on Urzikstan have been described in more detail. However, there are supposed to be even more smaller ones.
Levin Resort
Popov Power
Zaravan City
Shahin Manor
Low Town
Orlov Military Base
Hadiqa Farms
Zaravan Suburbs
Old Town
Seaport District
Urzikstan Cargo
You can find an overview with pictures and some details here on the (official CoD website).
The luxurious Levin Resort, a former holiday resort with pools and shops, sounds particularly exciting. Or the military base with its bunkers, which is located in the mountains and is supposed to be easily defensible.
What will happen to the old map Al-Mazrah?
Urzikstan replaces Al-Mazrah as the big Battle Royale map. You will no longer be able to play on the desert map, it will move to the map graveyard like Verdansk and Caldera.
(The Desert Map is sent to the desert.)
But the smaller maps from Modern Warfare 2 will remain: Ahika Island and Vondel will be available in Resurgence mode right at release. Rebirth Island and Fortune”s Keep are also set to return sometime in 2024, presumably alternating with the other maps.
We want your opinion: How do you like the new warzone map Urzikstan? Have you long since had enough of Al-Mazrah and are now looking forward to a completely new environment? Do you like the Verdansk touches or are you still mourning the original and hoping for its return? Would you have liked to see changes in the small maps or do you like the fact that a few familiar maps remain?
