According to current rumors, the next Far Cry will still be a while in coming, but will feature an unusual setting.
No, Vaas will not return as a villain in Far Cry 7. There just isn’t any footage of the seventh installment of Ubsioft’s shooter warhorse yet, and we had to get your attention somehow. Will you forgive us? That’s sweet of you, and to make up for it, we’ve got plenty of info on Far Cry 7 in store for you.
Unfortunately, this info is still unconfirmed and should be chalked up as a rumor. However, we don’t want to withhold it from you, because the source, the website (Insider-Gaming), seems to be very sure of the correctness of their leak.
Far Cry 7 as a kidnapping drama?
The name of the game: Internally, Far Cry 7 is said to be codenamed Project Blackbird. Thus, the new leak contradicts earlier rumors that titled the game as Far Cry: Rise.
This is what it’s supposed to be about: Far Cry 7 is not supposed to be centered around a charismatic villain on a tropical island this time. Rather, we are to embody the member of a very wealthy family. A group of radical conspiracy theorists called Sons of Truth have kidnapped our family members, and it’s up to us to save them.
The problem: According to the leak, we only have a limited amount of time to do so! Exactly how much has allegedly not yet been decided internally at Ubisoft. Currently, the counter is at 72 in-game hours, which corresponds to 24 real hours. At least the timer can be paused when we enter one of the so-called safehouses in the game.
We also briefly enter a safehouse and take a deep breath. Time for a little reading break. Look, we even interviewed Vaas actor Michael Mando himself in 2021:
Continue: Within the tight time limit, it shall be up to us to save our family. The order is to be entirely up to us. It is even possible to let family members die deliberately and thus influence the plot of the game.
In order to track down mom, dad, grandma and co., we should not only be able to fall back on firearms as usual, but also on a complex interrogation mechanic Accordingly, we can squeeze captured enemies for new information, but that is no guarantee of success. Sometimes they are supposed to simply lie, which further complicates our endeavor
When is Far Cry 7 supposed to be released? According to the leak, we won’t be able to find out how much truth there is in this gameplay info until the fall of 2025 at the earliest, when the game is supposed to be released.
So, what do we do now until fall 2025? Maybe play Counter-Strike 2? Or dive into Baldur’s Gate 3 again? Or maybe play Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty up and down? Oh, just take your pick!
Would you be up for a Far Cry 7 that matches the above leak in terms of gameplay and setting? Would you like to interrogate your enemies instead of just shooting them? Which setting would you spontaneously think of for such a family drama? Feel free to write us your opinion in the comments!
