Now that the play-in stage at Worlds 2023 is over, let’s take a look at some of the most interesting stats from players.
The VCS is on top – two Vietnamese players lead KDA at Worlds
While it’s usually not the most important stat to look at in League of Legends, KDA still gives you a great idea of how a player is performing or contributing to their team’s success. And despite the team having to go through the losers’ bracket, two GAM players finished on top of the KDA leaderboard at the end of the stage.
ADC player Slayer and support Palette have stormed to the top, boasting 6.5 and 6.4 KDA respectively. This was thanks to the great series they had against LOUD and Team Whales, which saw them take many kills and assists with little to no deaths.
In this department, the two GAM players are followed by Sheo and Crownie, who finished at 5.6 and 5.5 respectively. Below them, we got the PSG duo of Maple and Wako (5.4 and 5.3). All stats are taken from gol.gg.

Which players got the lowest KDA?
If there are some players with outstanding numbers, there must be also some with poor ones. Unfortunately, there is one player standing out from the rest in this category: DFM’s top laner apaMEN, scoring an average of 0.5 KDA in the series he played. The Japanese player, however, marked an important record, as he became the oldest player to participate in a World Championship, at the age of 31. Considering most players retire by the time they are 30, this might be one of the records he’ll be able to keep for quite a long time.
One other player was below the 1.0 KDA benchmark, and that was Movistar R7’s top laner Bong: he only managed to get 0.8 KDA, as the LLA team was the first team to be eliminated at Worlds 2023.
Now that the Swiss stage is fast approaching, it will be exciting to see whether there is someone who can maintain incredible KDA numbers. Who will get this award? We will find out when Worlds resumes on October 19.
