An unusual game principle probably also includes an unusual announcement: The PvP shooter BattleCore Arena is returning

A new shooter is said to be in development at Ubisoft – although new doesn’t quite get to the heart of the matter here: BattleCore Arena was already available from another studio, it was then removed from the game window and is now coming back under the same name – but from the French developer and publisher Ubisoft.

What is – or was – BattleCore Arena?

BattleCore Arena was actually released in 2017 and allowed you to roll around with a big ball, shoot at other balls and dodge your opponent’s shots with double jumps and other maneuvers in the eponymous arenas. However, the shooter did not survive and eventually disappeared from the scene. In 2022, the title was also removed from Steam, as can be seen at (SteamDB

In the (official blog post from Ubisoft) the publisher is now announcing this title again: same name, same gameplay, but not the same developer. Ubisoft Bordeaux is currently working on BattleCore Arena. It is not clear whether the former creators, Cosmic Ray Studio, have been bought out or whether Ubisoft has bought the rights to the game. But there is already a first trailer:

This should be inside

There is talk of three different game modes&nbsp:

3v3 Team Deathmatch

Golden Core: Possession of the core of the same name leads to victory

Everyone against everyone

Ranked Matches will also be available, although it is not clear which game modes this will apply to. Of course, there will also be no shortage of cosmetic items

Soon to be playable

Please note: To ensure that everything runs smoothly , a tech test will start soon – from February 1 – 5, 2024 to be precise. You can register (here for the test).

There is no release date yet, BattleCore Arena will be released on Steam and Ubisoft Connect.

Have you already tried the game or is this the first time you’ve heard of BattleCore Arena? Do you want to give this unusual shooter-ball game a chance or are you just rolling with laughter because the gameplay is so absurd and unusual? Let us know in the comments!
