The Collision series is one of the most exciting on the calendar for Super Smash Bros. It’s been running for a while now, spanning a few different installments happening each year. The Collision 2024 tournament is kicking off this weekend. We’ll see major events take place for both Melee and Ultimate. What can we expect from the new tournament?

We’re going to see both major Super Smash Bros games represented here. There aren’t events for the lesser-played Smash Bros, but we’ll see the two major ones. The tournaments are boasting an impressive roster of players signed up to take part, in both sides of the game.

Collision 2024 Format and More

The Collision 2024 tournament starts up on March 15th. It’s going to run all the way through the weekend, ending on March 17th. The bigger event featured in Smash Ultimate with the larger prize pool. Melee has a decent prize here too though. There are doubles events running too, but they’re more side events than the singles.

Both events are being played in the same format. We’ve got the pools round followed by a Final bracket where we’ll see the very best players go head-to-head. Looking at both events, there are some clear standouts and some of the best Smash players attending.

Melee at Collision 2024

The Melee side of things has a prize pool of $7410 for singles, with just under 500 players attending. Among these are some of the biggest names in Melee. We’ve players like Cody Schwab who has climbed to the top of the rankings lately. But also last year’s winner Zain, along with others like Mang0 and Hungrybox.

Ultimate

The Smash Bros Ultimate tournament is even bigger at Collision 2024. The singles side has over 700 players attending with a prize pool over $10,000. Fitting for such a major tournament we’ve got some huge players like Sparg0, Tweek, Riddles, MKLeo, and more showing up. There are only a few top-level competitors missing here, like Sonix who disappointingly won’t be attending.

Those are the two events at Collision 2024. This is looking set to be the biggest Smash Bros event in March. We’ll be able to follow the pools and the bracket on the official Twitch stream.
