In a recent leak that has set social media ablaze, it has been claimed that the son of a developer – Aaron Garbut – has leaked GTA 6 content. There was a series of screenshots and a short clip that made it to air, reportedly emerging from a friend of Garbut’s son. This could have devastating implications for Garbut if true, as this Head of Development at Rockstar North has been with the company since 1996.

However, many are doubting the legitimacy of the leak. As we’re just two days away from the official trailer being revealed ‘fake leakers’ have one last chance to propagate their user-created content across social media. It’s about to turn into a wildfire melting pot of AI-generated and Photoshopped content, as every leaker the world over claims they have exclusive GTA 6 content in their possession.

Is The GTA 6 Leak Real?

Was the leaked content really GTA 6, or just GTA 5? (Image Credit: Rockstar Games)

If there’s one guiding principle in the ‘leak space’, it’s that if the content is ordered to be taken down, it’s probably real. Following the leaked content being spread across social media, Rockstar Games started issuing takedown notices and DMCA’ing the clip. It’s only a few seconds long and it showcases an unbound camera scouting an area of a map that looks reminiscent of GTA 5’s Los Santos, but there’s every chance that this could be our most recent look at GTA 6’s map.

Which is almost confirmed to be Vice City at this point.

As the alleged GTA 6 map clip leaked online, several screenshots of a conversation also surfaced. It has been reported that this conversation was had with ‘a friend’ of Aaron Garbut’s son, and they made several claims about GTA 6, including:

It features a map that’s ‘twice the size’ of San Andreas’ map in GTA 5
It was said that ‘70% of all buildings’ will be enterable
It was claimed that the game will be released in ‘Fall 2024’ provided ‘there are no delays’

It’s nothing sensational and it gels with previous leaks, that’s why people are leaning into the belief that this is real.

When Is GTA 6 Being Revealed?

It was confirmed by Rockstar Games that GTA 6 will have its first trailer revealed Tuesday, December 5 at 9 AM EDT. It’s our first official look at the game, which has been in development for several years, and it’s going to put to bed every conspiracy theory and rumour that has surfaced over the last decade. That’s how long players have been waiting for a new Grand Theft Auto game, with the last one being released way back in 2013.

There are extremely high expectations for GTA 6, with many millions of gamers sitting firm in the belief that this could be the best game of all time. It’s certainly the most highly anticipated title we’ve ever seen, and even the slightest nod to the game from Rockstar generated hundreds of millions of social media impressions. It could be less than a year until we get our hands on it, and that’s a massively exciting concept.
