The VALORANT Challengers 2024 South Asia: Split 1 – Cup 1 Playoffs are almost here. Taking place from March 14 to 16 in Pune, India, there is one team which are the favorites – Revenant Esports. Coming in from the group stage undefeated, the team could just win it all. We got the chance to speak with Revenant’s Paradox at the College Rivals in Mumbai about the season so far, and his expectations in the future.
How do you feel being one of the only few teams in the VALORANT Challenger League worldwide to go undefeated during the group stage?
Kasif “Paradox” Sayyed: It feels really great to be honest, like finishing up the group stage with a 7-0 score as well as being undefeated, it’s actually feeling good as it is quite a tough task at hand.
How has the return been for you in a new role as you are the flex for the team?
Homecoming has been pretty great. We all know that Revenant Esports has been a very good organization for me even in the last season. We all saw that we had a few hiccups previously but now I’m back for this season and with a better team. So, I think that we are going to do well in the league especially with me being the flex player on the team.
How have the new imports, Severine and Dos9, made an impact on you as a player and on the team?
Yeah, it’s been great for me. Honestly speaking, Severine is like the big brother of the team. He has 15 years of experience in FPS gaming.
Coming to Dos9, what can I say about him? Wait what is the quote that you say? ‘Our diamond.’ He is a diamond from a coal mine because he has been playing great for us. Being from the country of Kazakhstan, he has come to India to show how talented he is and now everyone is a fan of him.
This time you will be entering the playoffs as the favorites and not the underdogs. How do you feel right now going into it?
Paradox: Being favorites, we already have a little bit of pressure, but we don’t care about the pressure.
Secondly, we have been practicing a lot for the upcoming VCSA Pune LAN. During the group stages, we were not able to practice that much. Due to this, I believe we are going to play a bit better than in the group stage. This time, when we go over there, we will try to win every match without losing a map. As it is a direct elimination format, we have to be vigilant and make sure that we don’t slip up at any given point.
