With the Summer splits ending across the globe, let’s take a look at which teams have already qualified for LoL 2023 Worlds.
LoL 2023 World Championship – Overview
The 2023 World Championship will be taking place in South Korea for the first time since 2018. With the LCK being the defending world champions, there will be a lot on the line for the Korean representatives, especially considering the dominance LPL teams have shown at MSI in London earlier this season.
Moreover, there will be more “beef” than usual due to the presence of the Hangzhou Asian Games which will begin in September. As a result, Worlds have been pushed a bit further back, with teams competing towards mid-October. The final will be on November 19, which will more or coincide with the end of the ranked season.
This also means that the Chinese and Korean leagues will be wrapping up their summer splits quicker than usual, as players will need some time to get good practice ahead of the event. For the other regions, they can take their time, but most regions will have locked their teams by mid-September.
Starting this year, Worlds will have a new format that is quite different from the past with changes across the board, including a Swiss-style group stage. The only stage with no changes is the Knockout stage, as the best 8 teams will play in a single-elimination bracket.
But before getting to that point, we will be able to witness 22 different teams playing at Worlds 2023. Here are all the representatives, from the major regions to the wild cards.
