It’s the final day of The International 12! With just two series left to play, there are still 3 teams in the running. Team Spirit were the first to lock in their place in the Grand Finals after a 2-0 victory against LGD Gaming last night. This saw Yatoro truly on top for with an unstoppable Morphling in Game 2.
Last night’s result means that LGD Gaming has one more chance to make it to the finals. But one of their biggest opponents stands in the way. Gaimin Gladiators have taken it all this year. The International has been a bit of a rougher road than expected but they’re still here on the last day – can they take it all the way?
EU Domination
Western EU, eastern EU and China are 3 of the strongest regions in Dota 2. In fact, Europe has won every single iteration of The International since Wings Gaming’s victory in 2015. These regions have been truly dominant on the international stage for years. While it’s come down to them once again, China still has plenty of opportunities for an upset.
Something no one really saw coming was LGD Gaming entering as something of an underdog. While they’re not quite in the underdog leagues of nouns, this year has been rough. With key members of LGD, including XinQ, no longer playing for the team, they struggled to find synergy. LGD (formerly PSG.LGD) have a bit of a reputation for choking a TI Grand Finals after it happened twice in a row against OG and Team Spirit in recent years. Perhaps now is their time to shine.
Who Will Be In the Grand Finals of The International 12?
Despite many fans preferring an interregional finals, it’s extremely like that Gaimin Gladiators will be the ones in the final. No one who has watched Dota in the last year could call them an underdog and their TI performance has really been no different.
Sure, they fell to the lower bracket thanks to Talon Esports. But dyrachyo is a true force to be reckoned with. It seem that if one player is going to be able to stop Yatoro in his tracks, it would be him. However, Team Spirit have been gearing up for this game since Riyadh Masters. They’ve gone from strength to strength and showed no signs of slowing down. The Kings of the Comeback have a hard fight regardless of who they face, but if anyone can take a second TI title, it’s them.
