Rockstar Games has revealed GTA 6 – at last – and we’ve got a good look at the new protagonist. At present, you’d be forgiven for thinking this is a single-protagonist game, as that’s what the trailer suggests is going to be the case. For the longest time, we’ve believed that GTA 6 will be a dual-protagonist title, drawing back somewhat from GTA 5’s triple-protagonist operating model. But is that the case? Who is Lucia in GTA 6, and is she a lone warrior this time around?

As the leaks suggested as far back as a year ago, Lucia will be joined by ‘Jason’. It was widely believed that this is a sibling duo, brother and sister fighting for survival in Vice City, but since then, things have changed. In the trailer, Lucia and her unnamed male counterpart are far too friendly to be siblings, unless Rockstar has planned something a little nefarious. We’ll likely get a better look at the male character in a follow-up trailer, but for now, it’s the female protagonist who’s the star of the show.

In just one minute and thirty seconds, we were shown GTA 6 in all its glory, from the new map to the game’s place in the GTA timeline. There’s a lot of conjecture circulating based on the scenes that unfold in the trailer, but there are plenty of facts that we can also pull away from this project. We’ve put the trailer into the article below so you can get an idea of what we’re talking about, but for now, let’s answer the question – who is Lucia in GTA 6?

Lucia is the first female protagonist in Grand Theft Auto since GTA 1 was released in 1997. She’s a Latin-American female in her mid-twenties, and at the start of the trailer, we see her being released from incarceration, claiming it was ‘bad luck’ that landed her there in the first place. On that note, we understand that she’s nonchalant about winding up in prison, and she’s not averse to a criminal lifestyle, which is expanded on later in the trailer.

As the cinematics unfold, we see Lucia skilfully wield weapons, drive recklessly, rob stores, and get noticed on social media. She certainly seems like a capable main character, and given her apparent abilities, some are questioning whether we’d even need a second protagonist.

Are There Two Protagonists in GTA 6?

As we’ve said, there’s no indication at present that there are two main characters in GTA 6. It’s likely, given the ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ vibe that the duo represents, but at no point do we see the trailer unfold firmly enough from the perspective of the male character. If he’s on screen, Lucia is always close by. It’s hard to see Rockstar Games pulling back to a single-protagonist operating model after the success of 2013’s GTA 5, but never say never.
